What we look for in Guest Speakers and Gear Experts

The Global Troop Town Hall maintains a casual yet knowledgeable atmosphere. We seek out the most knowledgeable and well spoken guests.

Guests are generally interviewed by the Host and/or speak knowledgeably on a topic for eight to ten minutes. They also may take questions from a studio and/or online audience. Their presentation style and format must be appealing to both Leaders and Scouts, alike.

Gear Experts generally speak for eight to ten minutes and limit their presentation to the few key elements of a product that are most important to a buying decision and/or use of the equipment. Experts must provide unbiased, pro and con comparisons and reviews. Experts must not "sell" a specific product or line of products, though personal experience with a particular product may be mentioned. Experts may also take questions from a studio and/or online audience. Their presentation style and format must be appealing to both Leaders and Scouts, alike.

Time Commitment

The time commitment for Guests and Experts is approximately 2.5 hours which includes an initial phone call that lasts about 30 minutes; a 60 minute mandatory dress rehearsal one week prior to the show; plus the 30 minute pregame show and 30 minute show. Both the dress rehearsal and actual show are recorded.

Selection Criteria:

Highly knowledgeable guests who can discuss topics and provide expert gear reviews without a lot of "um's and ah's" and who can quickly get to the heart of a topic without much prompting are preferred. When we achieve our fundraising goals, the show will be broadcast live through the Internet and recorded for posting online. All applicants must agree to and sign the Likeness Release Form in order to be considered. Click here to submit an email describing your interest. Broadcasts typically occur in either the Springfield, PA or Center City Philadelphia studio. Guests must provide their own transportation. This is a prestigious volunteer opportunity.

Guest Merit Badge Counselors
